Bio
Jason Noble
Music Educator, Conductor,
Composer and Clinician
Mr. Noble is currently serving as the
Musical Director of the Hanover Wind Symphony, a semi-professional adult
wind band in Whippany, New Jersey. Mr. Noble is also serving as the
Associate Conductor of the New York University Wind Ensemble, a new
ensemble that has garnered critical acclaim. Prior to that appointment,
Noble served for four years as Director of Bands at Miami Coral Park
High School in Miami, Florida. During his tenure at Miami Coral Park
High School, the band received both national and international acclaim.
In 2004, Mr. Noble commissioned a new significant piece of literature
for wind band, “Yosemite Autumn,” by world-renowned composer Mark
Camphouse. Mr. Noble was also cited as one of the “nation’s most
promising young music educators” by School Band and Orchestra
Magazine (2002), and featured in The Miami Herald for his
innovative teaching techniques in 2002. Noble founded the “Coral Park
School of Music,” which emulated a college/conservatory model and gave
students the opportunity to take classes in music theory, history,
conducting, instrumental techniques, and music education.
Noble and the Miami Coral Park High
School band, an urban public high school, released a professionally
recorded CD, “Living a Musical Dream,” with Mark Custom Records in
2003. His ensembles have performed at Carnegie Hall and have been
invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Mr.
Noble believes strongly in the principle that every person deserves to
learn music in the least-restrictive, most supportive, and most positive
environment. Noble strongly believes in a constructivist, post-modern
philosophy of music education, and he credits his exposure to the
teachings of music education philosopher David Elliott early in his
career as a critical, positive turning point. Noble is in demand as a
conductor, lecturer, and music performance adjudicator across the United
States.
Mr. Noble attended New York University (Master of Arts, Music Education)
and University of Miami (Bachelor of Music, Music Education, magna
cum laude). Mr. Noble will be pursuing doctoral studies in 2006. At
New York University, Noble studied composition with world renowned
composer Justin Dello Joio, saxophone with internationally acclaimed
classical saxophonist and historian Paul Cohen, and music education with
critically acclaimed contemporary scholar David J. Elliott. Previously,
Noble studied conducting with Gary Green (University of Miami), and
Nicholas DeCarbo (University of Miami). Mr. Noble holds professional
membership in the National Band Association (NBA), College Band
Directors National Association (CBDNA), The Mayday Group, New York State
School Music Association (NYSSMA), New Jersey Music Educators
Association (NJMEA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC),
American Society of Composers, Arrangers, and Publishers (ASCAP),
Society of Composers International (SCI), and the World Association of
Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE). In addition, Mr. Noble is a
nationally certified music performance judge for the Central States
Judges Association (CSJA) and a nationally certified music teacher with
the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).
His favorite quote, one that has guided
his strong passion for pursuing musical excellence is “Music is not an
art for the chicken-hearted. Seek what is right, and do NOT be afraid to
be wrong!” a statement boldly stated by the father of the American Wind
Ensemble, Dr. Frederick Fennell.
